Question: How does an ice maker in a fridge work?

The icemaker has a water pump, which draws water from a collection sump and pours it over the chilled ice tray. As the water flows over the tray, it gradually freezes, building up ice cubes in the well of the tray. When you freeze water layer by layer this way, it forms clear ice.

How do I know if my fridge ice maker is working?

A new ice maker cannot produce ice until the ice mold temperature cools to about 15 to 16 degrees. Once the ice maker produces ice, it may take a few ice-making cycles to clear the line of air. Once the air is cleared from the newly connected water line, it should work properly.

Can refrigerator run without water line?

It is a purpose. Water lines are needed for the Refrigerators to get the water they need to make ice. If your refrigerator doesnt have an ice maker or water dispensers, you dont need to connect it to a water line if you prefer not to use them.

Why does my ice maker keep jamming?

Ice Maker Gets Stuck If the ice storage bin gets too full or isnt used often enough, slight melting and refreezing may cause ice cubes to stick together in clumps, making it impossible to dispense them. The raker bar may have ice caught in it, causing it to jam.
