Question: Can you have a relationship with hep C?

Hepatitis C is transmitted primarily by exposure to blood containing the hepatitis C virus. Current research suggests that if youre in a long-term, monogamous relationship with a partner who has hepatitis C, your risk of contracting hepatitis C is quite low — unless you also have human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Should you date someone with hep C?

Hepatitis C is spread through blood-to-blood contact. Though certain sexual behaviors may increase the risk of hepatitis C, the virus is not typically sexually transmitted. So if you or your partner has been diagnosed with hepatitis C, you dont have to swear off sex.

Can you get hep C from kissing someone with hep C?

Hepatitis C is not spread by sharing eating utensils, breastfeeding, hugging, kissing, holding hands, coughing, or sneezing. It is also not spread through food or water.

Do you have to tell someone you have hep C?

For most people there is no legal obligation to tell your employer that you have, or have had hep C.
