What gender is most affected by Borderline Personality Disorder?
DSM-IV-TR states that borderline personality disorder (BPD) is diagnosed predominantly (about 75%) in females. A 3:1 female to male gender ratio is quite pronounced for a mental disorder and, consequently, has led to speculation about its cause and to some empirical research.
Can people with BPD show affection?
Its not uncommon to experience a great deal of turmoil and dysfunction. However, people with BPD can be exceptionally caring, compassionate, and affectionate. In fact, some people find this level of devotion from a partner pleasant.
