Question: What happens if my endometrial biopsy is abnormal?

Biopsy results may show cell changes linked to hormone levels, or abnormal tissues, such as fibroids or polyps. These can lead to abnormal bleeding.

Does thickened endometrium mean cancer?

Endometrial hyperplasia is a condition of the female reproductive system. The lining of the uterus (endometrium) becomes unusually thick because of having too many cells (hyperplasia). Its not cancer, but in certain women, it raises the risk of developing endometrial cancer, a type of uterine cancer.

What does endometrial carcinoma look like on ultrasound?

Ultrasound. Endometrial carcinoma usually appears as thickening of the endometrium though may appear as a polypoid mass. Sonographic features are non-specific and endometrial thickening can also be due to benign proliferation, endometrial hyperplasia, or polyps.
