Question: How do you connect a turntable to a receiver with a phono input?

The receiver has a built-in phono preamp with an input labeled PHONO. All you have to do is plug your turntables audio signal cable into the receivers phono input. Just below the phono input is a metal post labeled GND, for ground. Connect your turntables ground wire (if it has one) to this post.

Do all turntables need a receiver?

Youll want a system that consists, at the very least, of a turntable, a receiver and a good set of speakers. You simply can not go without a receiver or amplifier and expect to sound quality to still be top notch.
