Notable post-punk artists who presaged the gothic rock genre and helped develop and shape the subculture include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, the Cure, and Joy Division. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify and spread throughout the world.

Where are the most Goths?

Bay area, New York City and Seattle (possibly Portland) would be the biggest goth hubs. Generally bigger cities also come with better career and internship opportunities for while youre in college so its a win-win.

Are there older goths?

“Were elder goths, a term that started out as a joke to describe someone whos been goth for ages,” says Jillian Venters, known as the Lady of the Manners on her Gothic Charm School website and who, at 43, says she has indeed been goth for ages. “It is a lifestyle,” she says.

Do Goths wear rings?
