Emo belongs to post-hardcore, pop punk and indie rock style while gothic rock is a form of punk rock, glam punk and post punk. Emo rockers preach release of primal energy with abstract and chaotic sub structures while Goth are recognized by emphasis on darkness in their tone, dress, hair dyes, make up, emotion, etc.

What makes a person a goth?

At core, goth is a music based subculture so in order to consider yourself goth, your music taste must contain goth music. A subculture must have aspects, traditions, and characteristics which make it what it is and a common ground for all the people who consider themselves as part of that label.

Can I be emo and goth at the same time?

Can you be a mix of both emo and goth? You can be part of two subcultures at the same time, but they still stay their separate things. Theres no emo goth subculture, for example. The goth kids at my school have hooked up with the emo kids.

Why are Emos depressed?
